About The Suzuki Key-lock System

The Suzuki Anti-Theft System was introduced in 1999, and most Suzuki vehicles are made with this factory fitted key-lock system. The key has an inbuilt transponder chip covered by a plastic head. When the key is inserted into the keyhole, a signal is sent to the VAT prompting the engine to start. Hence, the vehicle will not work if the transponder chip is not found on the key or when it is not properly programmed.

Keyless entry and push start ignition

A handful of new Suzuki vehicles are built with the Suzuki Intelligent remote key fob. While this smart feature is basic on some models, it is optional on others. The Suzuki Anti-Theft System allows a car to have up to four keyless entry devices.

Is a DIY Duplication Possible?

The answer is no! You can duplicate the 99 Suzuki keys by duplicating the key code to a plain cut key. Although other Suzuki models use encrypted transponders which can also be cloned, control board diagnostic programming is the most recommended option. When duplicating Suzuki keys, the vehicle should be connected to Suzuki Anti-Theft System programmer with all the keys and all the new keys must be registered.

So How Do I Get a Spare Key?

In the past, you can easily approach a vehicle dealer-ship with the VIN number, they'll provide you with a replacement key but in recent times, most Suzuki models are designed with electrical keys. So cutting the key is not all that is required but you would also need to program the automobile computer module to be compatible with the newly cut key. To achieve this, the vehicle must be towed to the dealer-ship so it can be programmed with Suzuki's special programming device.
