What is Car Key Fob?
A remote key fob (Frequency Operated Buttons) is a small plastic controllers with built-in authentication used to secure and control access to vehicle and are a big convenience for drivers. Unlocking and locking a vehicle with a keyfob is as done by pushing a button and starting the vehicle is done by sliding the key into a slot on the dashboard.Apart of opening, closing and starting the vehicle, the fob key can also:
- Arm/disarm a security system
- Pop the trunk latch
- Control automatic windows
- Remotely start the vehicle ignition
- Activate the panic alarm
A great point of confusion with the fobic keys is the keyless entry device (Smart key). They both used transponder chips and do share pretty much the same functionality, however the key-fob required a physical contact between the car and the key once a driver want to start the car (exception is the case of a remote starter), while in the smart key the driver push a button on the dashboard to start the car just by carrying the keyless device in his pocket.
