If your Chevrolet Caprice was made in the years 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 or 1996 your vehicle have no chip in the key.   1. Insert an existing programmed functional key into the ignition slot.
  2. Turn the key to the ON for 5 seconds and then back to OFF position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition, within 5 seconds insert the new cut key and turn it to the ON position for 5 more seconds.
  4. Turn the key to OFF and then back to the ON position. The key is now duplicated.
  5. Start the vehicle and test the new programmed key.
